busy weekend

It has been a busy weekend. On Friday I was baking for several hours making 20 dozen cookies. Saturday was Grandpa's memorial party. We where outside for several hours and we got burnt. Caitlyn on her arms and me on the face. It was fun and sad at times. People did not eat the 20 dozen cookies. Today was Caitlyns baptism. She is in a mood and we thought it was going to be bad. I am so thankful she slept through the whole thing and only woke up when people started clapping. The dress that Aunt Carol made was so pretty. It is now time to rest.

Now that Caitlyn is 9 months old and plays by her self I have time to do this again. Life is good. I work around Lou's schedule so I am working 28 hours a week and get to be home with Caitlyn alot. She is now standing by herself, eating finger foods and crawling. She grew up so fast. We are having her baptised on June 8th. We had to switch churches because the old one told us he would only baptise her if we had our marrage blessed and paid $400 for the classes and the wedding. We now go to a church that is not all about money, is more children friendly and have a moms group for me to attend. I hope to be doing this more and will include pictures of Caitlyn. See you soon.

The past week has been so much fun. The couple of days before Christmas was so busy at work I had no time to think. Then our fridge died three days before Christmas. This past Tuesday I was taking the last of the stuff from the fridge to the trash and had my hands full. I let the dog out and he raced down the deck steps.I then started to go down and fell down the remaining 3 steps. Half my back landed on the last step and the other half on the sidewalk. I rested there for 10-15 min until I could get up. In the process I also scraped my arm. I haven't been able to sleep very well and can not move around all that well. Pretty much not a fun time. Wish all a happy new year.

Misfits and orphans

Yesterday was our misfits and orphans dinner. Anyone we know from work and family that is working through dinner or has no family in the area to go and party with comes to our house to eat free Thanksgiving dinner.
We made a 22 pound turkey with potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls and cranberry dressing. For desert we had two pumpkin pies, an apple pie and a french silk pie. It was a lot of fun. My brother Rob came over and played a ton of video games. A manager from work and several other friends came by also. I got to go to bed around 12:30 and had to get up at 4:30 for work. I'm tired but it was all worth it.

The wonderful season

This week starts a great and glorious season if you work in retail. It is officially called The 2 Months of Hell. We have already started playing Christmas music 24/7. This Friday is the black day of shopping which means that I start work at 5:30 am in the Jewelry dept at the local Kmart and by 6:10 I will want to kill not only myself but also my coworkers and customers. In December the Jewelry dept for the kmart corporation does around $113 million in sales. Then after Christmas we have 3 weeks of returns and exchanges.

Don't get me wrong. Christmas is a wonderful time of year. We get to see friends and family. Buy people great presents, eat a lot of food and go to parties. Joy is had by all. I just wish the work schedule and work in general these 2 months of the year did not suck. On a good note, premium overtime. The only good part about working retail. Oh yeah, the discount is pretty cool too.
